Brody's First School Field Trip

I was lucky enough to be able to go with Brody and his class to Schnepf Farms for his first field trip. He was so excited, talked about for days before and after! We had a good group that wanted to do everything! We went to the pig races, went on rides, picked pumpkins, went on the train ride, pet the goats, go through the corn maze....long day, but a good one!

I decided to get an annual membership to the zoo, so these are pictures from a few visits. Brody had never been, and so I figured it would be a good thing we could do with him on days he had early release, etc... I didn't realize how much the older kids still love the zoo, including me. Maybe because I have been going to this zoo since I can remember? Not sure, but I love that my kids love to go, and even though Wesley doesn't look to happy in the picture below, he really did have a good time, just had to be cool for the picture!

No soccer for this little princess of ours, literally, she acts and demands everything princess! THere are days I love it, and their are days it is exhausting! I keep reminding her, it's just as important to be pretty on the inside, we'll see if it happens!

She loves dancing with most of the cousins her age and neighbors!

Spring Soccer 2010

Macy contines to get better and better! She is not afraid to get right in the middle of a group of players and get the ball, she has no fear! And this year, her team which range from age 10-12 were playing 13-14 year olds, girls AND boys. Some games it looked like she was up against a man, but she still got right in there, it was funny to see the mismatch. I look forward to watch her play many more years!

This was Brody's first time playing. This picture looks like he has great focus and dedication to the sport. This must have been a rare moment, because the kid seriously just got out there and paid no attention to the game, it was hilarious to watch, no rhyme or reason as to why he was out there running from end to end of the soccer field.

Oh yeah, there was a reason for all the running...... the after game treats!

Brig on the other hand is very focused and had a great season. He is very aggressive

and really is starting to understand the sport.

Macy still loves her soccer! Her team participated in the ASU Soccer Clinic and had a chance to play on the ASU Women's Soccer Field, learn some new skills, and play a short scrimmage. Then we stayed and watched the ASU Team play. Macy is really soaking up all she can about the sport. I love to see her get involved and really hope her passion only gets stronger and stronger!

These 2 brothers share a birthday. On July 19th Brig turned 7 and Brody turned 5. Right now it is a fun day for our family. (However, I fully expect the day will come that they won't like this common factor. I just hope they grow out of it and eventually appreciate it and I hope it helps them be even stronger brothers!) Anyways, they always seem to have this special day right in the middle of our Summer Vacation to Newport, which is fun, but seriously, we don't give up a day on the beach for anything! So, we celebrated their birthday the first chance we could... a month later! But celebrate we did... how much better does it get, than a Pirate Pool Party? It was packed with boys, games, food, boys, swimming, treasures...and lots of boys!

First Day of School

Here we are so excited for the first day of school, really! Macy is starting 5th Grade, Kaitlyn 4th Grade, Brig- 1st Grade, Brody- Pre K. We are excited about their teachers, everyone, but Brig has a teacher who is new to the school or new to teaching, so it should be interesting!

Newport Beach did not disappoint this year! And we were lucky to enjoy it for a perfect 2 weeks! Fun things to remember this year:

Collins' Family just down the street- Record Breaking waves from Friday to Sunday-Sprinkles- L.A. w/ Court- Dustin the Deamon- Eating out- Balboa Bars- Digging a scary tunnel- Hi Chews- Settlers and Cards- Ferris Buellers Day Off- Yet another sunburn- Mexican Seafood- Panini's- Friendly Neighbors- not "looseing" your kids- Nurse Ned- Seaside Donuts- Awesome Guitar singer on the beach- Jaycee girl loving the beach just like her daddy!

Lots of pictures again, but it's hard for me to pick which ones not to put in!

So fun to be reunited with Melissa and Jaycee. We hadn't seen them since Boston because they are living in Houston. Kyle didn't make the trip, but Jaycee did enough beach bummin' for her daddy! I think I took as many pictures as Jaycee as I did my own kids!

The Collins' Family had a raft the first day and were having so much fun, we made a special trip to Walmart to get us a couple, the kids AND adults had a blast on these rafts- a new favorite!

Bobo and Conway, once again, Bobo FINALLY got in the water the last day! Hopefully next year he'll give it a try earlier in the week so he will get to enjoy it longer!

Sorry Tay, but we have to document your first driving experience/ car crash!

Taylor got here the beginning of July and is getting a little excited with the opportunity to get a drivers license just around the corner! After a few days of "hinting" I decided to take her to the church parking lot and let her have a few "rounds" around the parking lot. After 4 right turns, and probably 2 minutes later we have the following....

And then it was Summer...

As soon as we were home from Boston, it was time to let the Summer fun begin.

First thing was our favorite Summer Theatre with Miss Jenee. This years theme was "School of Rock". It was a great theme for both the boys and girls. They really had fun "rocking it out" on stage. Thanks Jenee, you are THE BEST!

Brig attended Basketball Camp for 2 weeks and LOVED it!

Macy, Kaitlyn, and Brig did Swim Team. They were so good to get up early every morning Monday-Friday for practice and then early on Saturdays for Swim Meets. They all did so well. They have improved so much from last year and really love participating and winning ribbons!

Boston and New York! June 3-8, 2009

With a title like this, you know you're in for a long post with lots of photos!

My baby sister, Hilary, has been on a mission for our Church for the last 18 months in Boston. When my Brother Boyd served in Chicago, those who could made the trip decided to pick him up in Chicago and then do some sightseeing, etc... So, with the same thing happening in Boston, we put it out there for those who wanted to go. We ended up having all my brothers and sisters and their spouses and each of us took our 2 oldest children, (plus Court brought all hers) and we had 2 babies, all in all, we brought 24 people to Boston to see Hilary and see Boston. We all arrived on different days, some arriving in Washington DC, some in New York, but eventually we all were in Boston with Hilary!

This is our family on the bus from long term parking to our departure flight from Phoenix. We wanted to get a photo of all our different modes of transportation we would be using this trip!

My mom and I, she traveled both ways with us, which was an added bonus for us!

This was our first time seeing Hilary. Emotions were high, we were all so excited!

Davy having a moment while we went on a tour called Plimoth Plantation . This tour talked about the Pilgrims and Indians and showed us their way of life. It was interesting, hands on type of stuff, the kids really enjoyed it!

Here we all our (except Kyle wasn't there yet!) It was pretty cold, we were all freezing! It was a little rainy, ALOT windy, heck, I was wearing shorts, we had no idea!

This church was the church Hilary was attending. It is in the Harvard University campus. Go here to read the story in her own words, it's a good one!

Being such fans of California, Newport Beach, and the PACIFIC OCEAN, we HAD to give the ATLANTIC some due time as well. It was so cold, but the kids wanted to say they all had been in the Atlantic Ocean! I think they all got in, was way too cold for us adults though!

It was a great spot to take some Family Photos. Here is all my family (dad couldn't make this trip!) We had to get the light house in the background!

My sweet family. The girls were great, they loved the trip and all we did. We were going, going, going all day, every day, and they were troopers and took it all in! Was so glad they were able to have this experience!

One reason they got to go on the trip was because it was both of their birthdays. So we told them if they got to go, that their plane ticket and everything we did there would literally be their birthday, no other presents or party, etc... They agreed, but we did got to eat at Hard Rock Boston and Macy got a free dessert and was sang to, she loved it!

NEW YORK

On Sunday of our trip, Lonny and I arranged to leave early in the morning with the girls and drive to New York from Boston, spend the day in New York, and then drive back to Boston, because we were heading home for Phoenix the next day.

Some quick thoughts to remember on this trip!

A friend of mine from High School, Dana Van Dyke, spent the whole day with my family in New York. She lives there and I had just seen her at Smitty's funeral the week before. When she mentioned she lived in New York, I told her we were going to be there in a week. She offered to meet up with us and show us around. She did JUST THAT! She was so awesome, she knew exactly how to get around, if it was faster to walk, take the Subway, what was a good deal or not. After I got home, I realized I didn't take one photo with her. She was so awesome, and made our day in New York filled with much more than we would have ever done on our own.

I am proud to be an American. I love our American History! I am so blessed to live in the Land of the Free. I know it was hard earned and I am thankful for those who paved the way and continue to pave the way for our Freedoms!

I am thankful for my family. For the family I grew up with and for the family I now have a steward over. I love them ALL with ALL of my heart. This trip was so special and I will never forget the wonderful times we had traveling around together.

Welcome Home Sister Worthen, you were missed greatly, and it feels so good to have you home!

Smitty

One of my really good friends from High School passed away. Laura Smith-Foster (not related officially, but in one of our Reunion Meetings, we did mention we always knew we were sisters, and now with us both having the same last name, it was official!) I will miss her and her laugh and beautiful smile. The MHS Class of '88 really came together. Through various donations we were able to help provide food for the family celebration after the funeral and this beautiful flower arrangement!

Here's a post to celebrate a lot of things coming to an end...

The end of Lonny's 41st year, Happy 42nd Birthday! He celebrated by getting his free lunch at the Farm Grill, of course!

The end of Brig's last year going to school Half Day, These were his Kindergarten teachers, Mrs McKinney is on the right, he really loved school this year. Mrs McKinney said he is definitely ready for 1st grade, way to go Brig!

End of Kaitlyn's 1st year at Club Dance. I have some more photos in her beautiful Ballerina costume, but I have to scan them, will add them later. She did a great job in her recital. We had a lot of fun watching her and how much she has improved this year!

GNO Weekend!

The last weekend of April I went with some gals to Newport Beach. We had such a great time, I pretty much forgot to take photos. I did manage to pull my camera out after a lovely trip to Spinkles cupcakes.

We did alot of shopping, eating, shopping, and shopping. Some sleeping and did I mention shopping? I had a great time with everyone, the weather was perfect, the Goodman's Beach House is perfect, what more could a gal ask for?!

Strut 'n Stuff

This was such a fun year watching Kaitlyn at all of her Dance stuff for Club Dance. She was able to perform at many local High School events, local parades and festivals, and even had the chance to perorm at the Half time show for the Phoenix Suns. She improved a lot this year and is so excited to continue next year!

We are lucky enough to have cousins and neighbors who are a part of the team as well. We car pool and have lots of fun at each event, sometimes too much fun!

We didn't want to miss Shawnda's wedding reception, so as soon as their performance was over, we booked it over to the reception just in time to visit with the beautiful bride!

Surprise Birthday Weekend!

So, I don't talk much about my hubby on my blog, for no other reason that I just think kids occupy so much of my time and attention, so the same goes for my blog?! Anyways, my hubby surprised me with a nice, relaxing weekend away for my birthday! He arranged someone to watch the kids, and lots of fun things for us to do. We headed to Tucson, but stopped at the Biosphere 2 on the way there (just a little past Florence). We actually enjoy little tours like these. We are too lazy most of the time to ask people to take our picture, so we didn't get any of us together (we need to be better at that!)

After our Biosphere 2 tour we checked in at our hotel in Tucson, took a nap, watched TV, you know, all things you never get to do with the kids around! We went to a movie, ate out, and also went to the Karchner Caverns.

I had a great weekend! I'm so lucky to have a husband who is my best friend and who really looks out for me. I love you Lon!

P.S. He said the next get-away is my planning- anyone have any great ideas, not too expensive?!

Flag Football February

Brig played his 2nd season of Flag Football. He had a great Coach (Lorenzo) who really taught the boys how to have fun, play hard, and they learned a lot of key fundamental skills as well. In fact, Brig almost scored at least 1 touchdown each game, some games 2 or 3! He was really proud of himself. Here are some of the photos to highlight a great season with Team Green Tornadoes!

The Parker Cummards invited us to their home this year again to ring in 2009. It is the perfect spot to ring in the New Year, the kids are busy outside the whole night with bon fires, quads, farm animals, cousins and food! Thanks Kanoe and Parker for the invite!

This year proved to be most interesting by far. It started with this very talented cast.

Brig's Kindergarten Christmas Concert

Brig has been so excited for his school Christmas concert. We've heard him singing the songs in the bath, car, backyard, pretty much wherever he is. He loves to sing and is a very good singer like his dad. You can see by the photos he was having a great time during the concert.

The Foster Family presents Polar Express!

Instead of passing out the usual homemade candy this year, our family decided to host a movie outside with our neighbors. When we took around our Christmas cards, it included an invite to come see Polar Express outside the front of our home. It was on the verge of rain, but it never quite got going. We had lots of hot chocolate and even had Santa show up on the coolest 1980 Club Car! The evening was so much fun. We are so blessed to live in such a wonderful neighborhood with good friends who we love dearly.

2nd Annual Sisters GNO

Our GNO was put together at the last minute, no Hils and a couple little ones can't stop us from having a true GNO!!

In true GNO style- we headed straight to Sprinkles Cupcakes before it closed. Then headed straight for our favorite restuarant- Le Grande Orange (LGO) and put down about 6 of these- no problem!! Seriously- they brought out a couple and then went and brought the remaining pizzas- in the little time they were gone we pretty much inhaled one of the pizzas- the waitress kept thinking she still needed to bring us one more, but we kept trying to explain we had already devoured an entire pizza! It wasn't embarassing!

Some of our GNO consisted of naps with newborn babies- I mean does it get any better than that- seriously??!! Especially when the babe is sleeping like that!

And brothers were allowed to come and eat only the left overs and give their sisters neck rubs and find the funniest SNL skits on You Tube!!

We had a gal come and give us Holiday Glitter Toes!

And we waxed our feet and hands!! Felt sooooo good!

Even though we didn't do our Hotel sleep over- it was still alot of fun. I love all my sis's and truly can say they are each not only a sister, but a true friend.

And of course- the traditional bro and sis photo- in age order, no Hils on the end though!

It's no wonder why life just never seems to slow down. As I look back on the pictures I have taken, trying to document our life, I am amazed at how we "get it all done"! But somehow we do, and we (for the most part) have a good time while we're doing it! Here's a little glimpse into our crazy hectic schedule!

This is how I picked Bobo up from preschool one day.

Macy has been getting up every morning, Monday thru Friday, to get to school by 7:15am for Orchestra. They had their first Orchestra concert, I was so amazed at how much she has already learned. While Emma's mom and dad were in the hospital having Baby #6, we were able to go support Emma in her first Company Dance Concert. She did a great job, here dances were alot of fun to watch. The girls were able to see how a lot of hard work really pays off!!

Macy went ice skating for her first time, and got her first broken arm. Dad says no one else is allowed to go ice skating for awhile!

Kaitlyn has been practicing real hard for her first Strut-n-Stuff (SNS) performance (at Williams Field High School Football Halftime Show) Once all the girls get all dressed up, it's hard to tell them apart, they all look exactly the same. I had a hard time even seeing where she was on the field.

Macy's Fall Soccer Season!

This was a new team for us. She didn't get as much playing time this year, since she was the new girl, but she still learned and improved alot. Their team only lost one game the whole season!

Brig's team was about how to have fun while playing soccer- and boy did they. I still think they learned a little, they definitely had a lot of fun!

Since I went back to work in March, piano just wasn't happening, so I finally signed Kaitlyn up with a new teacher, Rachel Gunson. She is such a great teacher! For their first recital, she arranged for it to be at an Elderly Rest Home, so the kids could play for the Elderly people who lived within. Kaitlyn did a great job! She and her teacher even played a duet together!

WHEW! What a crazy few months!! And it all starts again in January, I think I need a nap!

20 Year High School Reunion

So, I have been planning my Reunion for almost a year now. It has taken alot of my time and energy this year, sometimes I was really wondering if it was worth it, but after such a fun weekend, I have no doubts it was 100% worth it! I had such a good time with all my MHS buddies, some I had kept in contact with, some occasional visits, and some not at all, it didn't matter though! There is something about those High School years and your peers that is endless. It was like time never passed, except for the fact that we couldn't remember each others names, or had changed a bit....ok, changed alot!

I have this ever so lovely sis-in-law, Niki, who is not only the most amazing wife to my brother Boyd, but is just a very unique and wonderful person overall. As we (my family) have gotten to know her over the past few years that she has been married to my bro, we have learned that she is not the shy girl we thought she was.

This observation first began at their Wedding Reception. We had learned sometime before the actual wedding day that she had 2 dresses, her beautiful "Cinderella" gown (as me and my girls like to call it)...

...and her "Dancing Dress", a vintage Wedding gown she had rented (for more on this dress go here!) just for the dancing part of the reception. (You have to imagine Niki in this dress- it's even that much more beautiful!)

We wondered why would she need a different dress to dance in? Most brides just do a few nice slow dances and maybe a fast song that they take their shoes off at the most so they can do a little more dancing, but Niki, she did an actual dress change! We soon found out this was completely necessary, as this girl can get down!! And from that moment on I knew we had something special just join the Worthen Family, and she has not let us down! She is cool, but classy- sheek and sassy, she is charming, witty, poised- just basically adorable.

I tell you of her because she recently gave my family and I an opportunity to do some good!

It started with an idea of a fundraiser for the Christian and Stephanie Nielson Family that turned into a Carnival.

We signed up to do a popcorn and cotton candy machine since we had access to both machines. My sister Syd began gathering all the supplies we needed, and my sister Courtney began making the cutest aprons for the event. We ended up having a fun day of helping others and even though it was a long day, it was well worth it! For more details, see Niki's post! I stole some of her pictures since I forgot my camera that day! Thank you Niki for letting us have the opportunity to serve others this day!

They had several balloon launches throughout the day- each time I got a little choked up thinking of the family that we were there for. My heart really goes out to them!Bobo loved the caramel apple booth!

Bobo's Preschool Field Trip's

Bobo's Preschool class was able to take a Field Trip to Williams Gateway Airport. They got to talk to two Medical Dr's that operated a helicopter. It was a real hit. Since Brig is in afternoon Kindergarten, he got to go to. They both loved it and listened very well.

As we were walking away from the helicopter, this fighter plane came in. They watched it land and then stop right by us, it was amazing to see each kid mesmorized by the the whole thing!

The next field trip was to tour a Fire Station. This was both Brig and Bobo's first time getting to see the inside of a fire station, again, they were very attentive, and loved seeing everything the firemen do when they are not putting out fire's!

Brig thought the cookie jar was funny, Bobo thought the garbage can was stinky!

Newport Beach 2008

I have been going to Newport Beach nearly every summer of my life, and I still will continue to go every summer for the rest of my life! I'm sure there are great vacations and other places to go. But for the fun we have and the money we pay- you just can't beat this one.

The last few years we have spent our days at the beach next to a large family who always has the best beach toys and games. We were so excited to have Ryan and Katie join us for about half the week this year. At the time, they were expecting their first child (Parker Elaine- post on her coming soon!). They were alot of fun and we hope we can do it every year?! The last night we took them to the Fun Zone and Balboa Island- we had a good time watching the kids and eating!

Our only attempt at a family picture failed, Brig refusing to get in! Oh well, there's always next year- right?!

I always said after Brig was born that I wanted another boy, but I wanted them to be at least 2 years apart, so they both wouldn't be on missions at the same time. Well, they are exactly 2 years apart TO THE DAY. For Brig's 2nd Birthday we gave him a brother. I think he still feels he got robbed, but maybe someday, it will mean alot to the both of them! And the last few years, we have been at the Beach House in Newport Beach on their birthdays. They love it though and it always makes a fun party to be near the beach! I love these boys, they mean the world to me. I love their strong personalities, yet they can both be tender and loving. They have lots of spunk, and have lots of friends because of it! I pray they will be as good of men as they are sweet little boys!

Girls Camp

So, not only did Taylor go to Girls Camp, but so did I! I was Camp Director for our Ward. We had around 20 girls go and 3 other leaders other than myself. I had a great time, even though it was exhausting! The girls were great, I loved getting to know them better, and the message at camp was perfect. I really felt the girls were able to grow closer to one another and build some wonderful friendships.

This is our second summer of participatin in Jenee Wright-Prince's summer theatre workshop, called That's Entertainment! This was Brig's first year, he was only 1 of 2 boys- and he loved it! The theme this year was Everything Disney- they learned old and new Disney songs, about 20 of them, along with actions and spoken dialogue to every song. It's 2 weeks of lots of work, but the night they perform it is so much fun! I really love watching them develope their talents, and I think they love it too!

High School Musical at Gammage

For their big birthday present this year, Lonny and I gave our girls a ticket to go see High School Musical at Gammage in Tempe. We went with our cousins and neighbors and had the best time. They each got dressed up in High School Musical fashion, then we ate at California Pizza Kitchen, and then to the show where we met up with more neighbors, friends, and cousins. This was their first "Broadway" show, and they all loved it! I have to admit I think I love High School Musical as much as they do- can't wait for HSM3!

Taylor missed the last 2 days of school in Idaho so she could get here in time to go on a 26 mile Pioneer Trek with our Stake. She was only 1 of 4 girls in our Ward who made the committment to go. I was really proud of her for going.

Here are some questions I had her answer (for the record)....

Did you like wearing Pioneer clothing? When it was cold YES. When it was hot NOO.

What was your Trek family like? Well, my ma was always making life comfortable for others no matter where it put her. My pa was the encourager. My brothers (Cody, Easton, and Kelton) were the strong ones. My sister Heidi was strong and popular, Grace sort of did her own thing and Kendall was always talking with the boys.

What did you do to pass the time as you walked, and walked, and walked, AND walked? Mostly I thought and thunk and thought some more. Sometimes about pioneers, sometimes about music actually a lot about music. Also Grace, Heidi, and I sung a lot of songs (mostly disney) and Ma. We also talked a lot. President Riggs passed and we asked him what his favorite song was and found out that his favorite disney character is King Loui.

Tell us about the food you ate and how you cooked it? The food was magically filling and that was good enough for me. But the only food we 'cooked' was a PBJ.

What was your favorite thing about the Trek? Game day. You see we didn't just walk and walk and walk. The third day we had a game day and it was the bomb. That day we had chocolate cake bonus.

What did you learn about the Pioneer's? They were stronger physically then I thought.

What was your most memorable Spiritual Highlight? When we read the letters sent from home.

Was it worth missing the last 2 days of school? Heck yes! I'd do it again in a heart beat!

And then, 10 days after the Trek, she left for Girls Camp. She missed a lot of the getting ready stuff for Camp, but luckily I was the Camp Director for our Ward. It was so fun to be with her at Camp. Taylor gets along with everyone, and makes friends with everyone. She is always smiling, and never complains.

Arriving at camp, the buses broke down and they were on the HOT bus with no A/C for about 2 hours, then the buses had to drop them off a 1/2 mile from Camp. You'd never know by the look on Tay Tay's face!

Humanitarian Project Class

There was no stopping Taylor at the water hole. The "Arizona" in her really comes out when she is around water, she went down rock slides, jumped off rocks, and the water was FREEZING!

Hope you had fun on all your Church Adventures, but we are glad they are all over and we get to finally hang out with you!!

What Time is It? It's Summer Time!!

Wow- has it really been a whole month since my last post?? This month has been a crazy and busy one. Kind of glad it is almost over, although it has been fun, it will be nice to relax! What has been keeping us the most busy is Swim Team and Dive Team. The girls are doing Dive Team and Brig is doing Swim team. I love it because it is early in the morning, and I hate it because it is early in the morning. It gets us going for the day that is for sure. here are some of the Meet Highlights...

This is Brig in his first meet, he didn't want to go, but as soon as he got his ribbon he was glad he came.(he doesn't care what color he gets- he is just trying to get one of every color!)

The Kennedys have been doing Dive Team with us. This is all the kids first year doing diving, they have learned alot and really love it. Alot of the kids they are competing against have been doing it a lot longer. They still are having fun, even though they don't win, and they have improved so much! I know- don't be shocked, but here's my feeble attempt to update and get caught up. If you know me, you know I can't just start with today, I have to begin where I left off from the last post- or else it would drive me nuts!

Happy Birthday to my baby girls!

On June 7 and June 10th- they turned 9 and 10! They were born a year and 3 days apart, but at the time and looking back to that time of life, it all feels like a big blur. Macy came on our 1st Wedding Anniversary. She was a week over due, so when they scheduled us to come in to be induced on June 6, I thought- crazy, I will have a baby before our first Anniversary. But, they kept telling us all day that there were no rooms available and to only eat a light breakfast, then a light lunch, then finally at 6pm they let us come down and get started. My labor was about 6 hours- just after midnight and on the very day we were married just one year earlier. She came out with the biggest light blue eyes you have ever seen. I wasn't expecting blue eyes, but it was a fun surprise. She was always happy and easy going. I began training her to walk at 10 months old because we knew here sister would be here shortly and I wanted her to be walking before Kaitlyn arrived. Kaitlyn was due the end of June. We had just celebrated Macy's 1st birthday, and a few days earlier I was wakened about 2am not feeling so good. After about a half hour of thinking I had to be on the toilet, we finally started timing the episodes and realized they were happening every 5 minutes and that I was probably in labor. (Remember with Macy I never felt that, had to be induced- so this was a new experience for me). We called the doctor because I wasn't due for 10 days and I went a week overdue with Macy and he said to go ahead and go down. Thanks goodness that was his advice. If he would have told me to sit it out and wait I probably would have, but by the time we got to the hospital, it was pretty bad and I was having to stop in the hallways as we were trying to get up to the labor and delivery floor. I think I was a 6 when we arrived, they barely had time to give me some "happy juice" as I like to call it, and she was born just over an hour of being there. It was a very emotional time for me, I felt so much love for Kaitlyn, and felt so bad that I had just abandoned Macy. She was still so little. But she loved her sister and her sister loved her. Today, despite the occasional fighting (sometimes it is more often than not!) they are friends and I love knowing they will always have each other. I come from a family with the best mom in the world, she's just got it, Spiritual, but crazy and fun, she lifts me up, is the most patient with me and my quirks, and has always been there for me, then there are my 4 sisters. Each so different, yet we all have so much in common. I love these relationships, and now that I have 3 daughters of my own, I want to be the mother my mother is to me, and I want each of my daughters to cherish each other as much as I cherish my own sisters. Sorry- didn't mean to get sappy, but remember, this my Family's journal- deal with it!

Kaitlyn had her final Dance Recital with her Hot Shots group. She has worked really hard this year and has improved 100% She was dedicated and had a great attitude, even though she didn't have any friends doing it with her. The dance with the tye-dye outfit was the whole company dance. They have been working on this dance since September, It had 2 costume changes (total of 3 costumes) throughout the dance. It was a neat dance and she got a feel for performing with a big group.

A week after finishing with the Dance Recital, she tried out for Club Dance's performing team. This time she had many friends, cousins, and neighbors trying out as well. They had to go to a 4 day camp, and on the last day they had to try-out. They were all so nervous. We moms were so nervous that maybe one of them wouldn't make it and all the others would...

Cummards Cabin

At the last minute we decided to go up to Syd's and Davy's cabin in Strawberry for Memorial Day weekend. Both Lonny and I and a couple of the kids had been real sick (for over a week), and I wasn't sure if I felt good enough, but it was cool and relaxing, and the kids got along and played outside most of the time. We did some crafts, played games, built a fort in the woods, and of course we had some good grub!

Thanks Syd and Davy for sharing the cabin- it really is so fun to be up there all together! These two can put down some food!

BYU Women's Conference

This is the first year my sisters and I have attended Women's Conference, and I don't think we will miss another. It was such a great time and I really came away feeling inspired and ready to be a better wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. First stop, Visiting the Johnson's. Here we are with Aunt Jennifer (above) and our baby cousin, Brooke (below). We had a quick short visit with them, but many laughs were had and we were so glad to have seen them!

Besides being there as sisters, we had some good friends with us.

This was my favorite class. Mary Ellen Edmunds was the speaker. It was titled turning the MTC into a review, not a revelation. She was so inspiring and gave many ideas to help teach in your own home so that the MTC is only a review, not where you are hearing it all for the first time. She had some great ideas that I hope to implement in the near future!

But the best was yet to come! We were able to hear a Prophet speak. It was one of the highlights of my life. I can't explain how I felt when he walked into the Marriot Center, all 20,000 people immediately stood up, and someone started singing, 'We Thank Thee Oh God For A Prophet" and pretty soon, all 20,000 of us were singing. I could barely sing as I was so emotional.

He spoke of not letting the important things in life pass you by, but to enjoy the journey, day by day. "There is no tomorrow to remember if there isn't something today" and "Don't save something only for a special day, everyday is a special occasion."

This picture is blurry (we were asked not to use flash photography!) but as he left the meeting and was about to walk out, he turned and waved, it seemed to each and every one of us. And we all waved back. It was very touching and simple, but I will never forget the love I felt for him. He is truly a Prophet of God!

Afterwards, we wanted to get some pictures by the podium with all our gang.

Neighborhood Late Nights

This is the favorite for all the kids in the neighborhood. They convince one of their parents to let all the neighborhood kids come over and invade your home and stay as late as possible. You are required to entertain, feed, and on this night, set up camp in yourbackyard and tell scary stories. It's a lot of fun when it is at someone else's house, and it's not too bad when it is your turn, the kids love it. I love that we have such a great neighborhood with many friendships!

I have been getting ready for the She's Got it All Boutique!! It was crazy, and time consuming, but I had a lot of fun! Thanks to my posse, also known as Kanoe, Lindsay, my mom, and Amber . I couldn't have got it all done without all of your help! We made 96 necklaces and 50 bracelets!! My mom had a dream using this tree she got at Christmas time to display the jewelry- I loved it!! Preschool Dropout!

At the beginning of the year, Brody was all signed up for Preschool, and mom was sooo excited- we're talking actual hours in the day with no kids! After the 3rd day of class, his teacher felt that he just wasn't ready yet. We tried to start it up in January, but had no luck. A few weeks ago my sis saw a post on Queen Creek friends about an opening for the last 2 months in a Preschool nearby. I thought- why not try this again. Well, good news, he's re-enlisted! Brody documented the car ride his first day of school....

Kyle and Melissa hit the family with a double whammy! The best news is that they are expecting (as most of you know), AND the bad news is they moved to Virginia! At least they will be back before the baby is born, or I don't think we would have let them out of the state! Miss you guys already!

Sea World

Our family decided to have a mini vacation at Sea World because we had to go anyways with Kaitlyn's dance group. We spent a good 2 1/2 days at Sea World- a little long for Sea World- we pretty much had done it all in a day and half, but the kids were having fun, and I guess that's all that matters?!

The fun started from the very beginning! Not even half way there, we passed this marine caravan. Brig and Brody thought it was the BEST!

We were lucky to have Miss Paige with us for the trip. She was alot of fun!

(I'm not sure what the boys are doing in this picture, I think Brig is saying peace, and Bobo thinks Brig is holding up how old he is, so he's trying to do the same??!!)

First ride, river raft- time to get wet! Luckily Bobo wasn't tall enough and I had to stay back with him on this one!

Next morning, 8am, somehow I got talked into being in the front row on this one. I don't know what I was thinking, I didn't think you got that wet, I was severly wrong. I didn't get dry from this ride until about 3 in the afternoon. Mind you, the weather was pretty cold, and I was not happy about this! I HATE to be cold!

Lonny was REAL happy I bought these for the boys- NOT! We had blue sucker everywhere, the ceiling of the car, the car seat, the door, themselves.... but look at their faces.... they thought I was the best mom!

While the girls were having fun getting wet, I talked the boys into this! They look so sweet- looks can be deceiving!

Easter 2008

Easter weekend was a much anticipated weekend for me. We had hinted to our cousins in Las Vegas that it would be a great time to come see the Easter Pageant and the Reflections of Christ display and stay for Easter! Well, they took the bait, and so for the first time in many many years we were together with most of our "Vegas Cousins". The difference this time, we weren't the kids anymore, we were the moms and dads, and there was a whole new bunch of kids- it was GREAT! Here's how the weekend went down!

Saturday was just a day to hang out and enjoy catching up. The guys did go shooting in the desert for a few hours while us gals took all the kids swimming. Other than that- it was hanging out at my house for about 12 hours- but it was great. I loved seeing us all together (like back in the days of hanging out at Grandma Norma's.) The kids were having so much fun with each other, and we put down some food- of course! Could these girls get any SASSIER??!! Umm- the answer, YES!!!

Brig signed up for Flag Football this season (took a break from soccer!) I really didn't think he would do that good, or be so into it, especially since breaking his leg a year and a half ago, he hasn't been the strongest runner, but I was WRONG! He was so into it, and quite a good little runner, scoring a few touchdowns, and making some good tackles (oops- I mean steals of the flag!) We had a fun team with cousins, Luke and Clay, and neighborhood buds, Luke J, Curtis, Johnathon, Jake & Elias. One time Brig was the quarterback (which is also the guy who runs the ball) and he ran from one end of the field to not just a touchdown, but kept running past the end zone, almost to the parking lot. I think he was a little excited- it was very much like watching Forest Gump- "Run, Forest, Run!!" Here are some fun photos from his last game. Thanks Coaches Ted and Whit- we had a real fun time!

The only player missing from our team was Addison- we really missed playing with him, plus he was a real good football player- not much fun playing against him- he scored a touchdown everytime he was quarterback, and tackled our quarterback alot! Next time Addison, you're playing with us- not against us!

Our Love Story

I know I said I refuse tags- and seriously this IS my last one I will do- I promise, but my sis-in-law tagged me, and although I can't remember half the details for most the questions, I am doing it, my memory will only get worse from here on out, so I might as well document what's left in my pathetic brain!

1. Where did you meet?

Lonny and I met at the MCC Institute of Religion. He had just returned home from a mission, and I had just graduated from High School. We had many mutual friends, and were just hanging out together in a big group.

2.What was the first thing you said to him?
OK- this question requires too much detail. We obviously didn't have "fireworks" in the beginning, so I really don't remember the first time I saw him or what I said. I just remember him being alot of fun and easy to talk to.

3. Where was your first date?
Again, I honestly do not remember, I'll have to look back in my journals, I'm sure it is documented in there somewhere. Some of our early dates were Trolley rides around Mesa, one day he called and told me to get dressed kind of nice, and when to be ready. When he showed up, he had a dozen roses and tickets to the Neil Diamond concert that night. Another time, he told me to grab a loaf of bread that he was coming to pick me up. He picked me up and we went to Freestone Park and he had a little picnic on a blanket and then we fed the ducks. It was the first night we really talked and talked about anything and everything, I think this was when I realized I really cared about him more than just a friend.

4. Where was your first kiss?
If it wasn't at my front door (because, again, I really don't quite remember) then it was at the above mentioned park date. I remember feeling like this guy really likes me and I really like him. We were such good friends before we were ever romantically connected, that those feelings were almost unexpected!

5. How long did you date?
OK, minus the 4 year marriage he had, we dated from 1988 to 1997 when we were married. It's a crazy dating story, with many ups and downs, and confusion, and good times. But we both know if we have survived all that and we are still together, than we can survive anything!

6. Where did you get engaged?

We got engaged in his home in Utah in front of a fire early one morning. I had gone to Utah to be with him for Christmas, my first Christmas away from home. We went to Colorado to meet up with his family. I was with him when he bought my ring, but I told him I wasn't wearing it until he asked me. He held onto it for a few days. Finally, one morning, he set up a fire and some blankets and pillows and we were talking and he finally asked me.

7. When were you married?

We were married June 7, 1997. We were not able to marry in the Temple due to his recent divorce. The morning before we were married, we took photos around the Temple, and then went into the Temple and did sealings. They thought we were married, and we even got to kiss each other.... as proxy's, but it was still special. We were sealed July 18, 1998 when Macy was about 5 weeks old. Taylor and Macy were both able to be in there, and that is a day I will never forget!

8. How did your reception go?

June can get a little warm in Arizona. And it was everyday leading up to our wedding day, but the day of our wedding a little storm came in and it was actually a cool day and perfect evening. Our reception was held at Ed and Joanne Singleton's backyard. Many friends and Young Women helped in the kitchen. Debbie Stapley, JoMarie Woolf, and my mom, and I'm sure many others, helped with the decorations. It was beautiful, and I truly felt like a Princess!

9. How was your honeymoon?

Norm and Miriam King gave us the keys to their cabin in Pinetop. We loved the peace and quiet of the outdoors. It was a much needed break from all the craziness leading up to the Wedding.

The best part of our love story was yet to come though!

My Hero, Once a Marine, Always a Marine!

On March 24, 2005, Jared, Lonny's youngest brother, was serving with the Marines in Iraq. It was hot, they didn't sleep well, and he was part of a squad on a special mission that he couldn't discuss even with his family. He had only been there 6 weeks when a 50 caliber round entered through his lower spine and exited out his abdominal cavity, pretty much leaving him a hole in the middle of his body. (The 50 caliber bullet is the one on the far left below- HUGE!) The family got word when 2 Military Officers showed up letting us know he had been in an severe accident, they didn't have any details for us, whether he was alive or dead, or the extent of his injuries. So the waiting game began and we rallied together as a family. We soon learned he had been taken to Germany and if he stabled enough they would fly him to Bethesda, MD, to the National Naval Medical Center. This is where we were first able to see him.

His wounds were such, that he will have a permanent disability for the rest of his life. He does have the ability to stand and walk, however it will not be an easy journey. Corporal Foster has been undergoing many surgeries and intense rehabilitation for almost two years now. (He has undergone over 40 surgeries!!) Since his return, he has been honored in many ways. From newspaper articles (such as below), Grand Marshall in the Phoenix Veteran's Day Parade, and many spotlights on different news stations.

We, as a family have supported him, more specifically his mother, Sue, and father, Joe, have been there for him 100%, from helping him fill out the millions of forms to making sure his needs were being met by the Military. We have gradually watched him get stronger, both mentally and physically. Here's some fun Jared photos....

Last year he bought what can best be described as nothing more than the shell of a 1968 Camaro coupe. His hope was to build a nice car for himself, but the effects of his injuries make it difficult for him to do "those car tasks" that require good physical agility. His wounds won't keep this good man down. He's been trying to do as much as he can on his project---sand-blasting, wire brushing parts, clean-up, etc. But it's some of the other aspects of working on a car that are a problem, such as leaning, crawling underneath, working under the dash, etc. He is also realizing that he has taken on a major project, one that may be more daunting than he realized at first.

Jared recently approached John Bauler, President of the First Generation Camaro Club here in Phoenix, in search of parts for his Camaro. Upon getting acquainted with Jared and examining the car, it was found to need a great deal of parts, as the car did not have an engine, adequate running gear, interior, body trim, wiring, etc. It was also discovered that this car needs much of its sheet-metal replaced.
Upon getting more acquainted with Corporal Foster, John Bauler quickly realized that Jared would probably not be able to complete this car anytime soon, due in part to his physical disability and his need of someone who understood how to assemble these cars. It was then that John decided to approach the club and ask them if they were willing to assist in taking on this project, as a way of thanking this young veteran.
The club was more than willing to accept this challenge and word has quickly spread through the metro-Phoenix auto-hobbyist circles. This resulted in a group of people from the First Generation Camaros of Arizona, the Cactus GTO Club, and a few Chevelle club members coming together to assist in any way possible on this project. As a token of thanks to the Corporal, everyone has been very eager to assist, by providing parts, labor and financial support as needed.

Last Sunday, a "sting" was set up. Jared was picked up by the Marine Corp and told a high ranked Military official was going to be meeting with him since he was going to be retiring from the Military soon. When he arrived at Falcon Field Airport he was escorted by a Marine on each side and thousands of people. He had no idea why there were so many people in the wing of the airport. He soon learned he would not be meeting with any Military Officials, and that his car, which he thought had gotten a bad paint job and was being stripped down and repainted, was in fact..... well see how it all played out........

As many people lined up on the left side, there were that many lined up on the right side as well. We had alot of friends and family show up, but we had no idea who all these people were, but it made all the more exciting!!

Jared learning he is not there to meet with the Military. Has no idea what is about to happen!

He said he figured it was something big because of all the news camera's in his face- literally!

She is one of the most determined people I know, if she puts her mind on something, she will do it! Especially when it comes to exercise and eating good! These are just the last couple of races she has done in the last couple of months. She never stops running (unless her shoe is untied) and even though she has 2 toe nails about to fall off, she will do another one again soon!

This is such a wonderful accomplishment for Kaitlyn. We were so excited to get a phone call from the school inviting us to the next mornings Flag Ceremony to watch Kaitlyn receive her Student of the Month Award. Here is what her teacher submitted to the Principal:

"I feel this student deserves the student of the month award because Kaitlyn has proven herself to be such an amazing leader and great example for others to follow. She takes great pride in her work, and always strives to do her personal best. Kaitlyn is always willing to help others and truly demonstrates a humble, compassionate, and caring heart.
